The Fabulous Joan Collins

There are all kinds of amazing women in show business who I admire and adore for their talent, beauty and style. One of those women is the fabulous, amazing, iconic, gorgeous Joan Collins.

LOVE.

LOVE.

Born in Paddington (adorbs) in 1933, she has been honored by QEII with an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) title. This woman is totally legit. In addition to her amazing acting career, she has also written books, fiction and non-fiction, plus she’s passionate about lots of various charities. I have absolutely added her beauty books to my Amazon wish list.

I had a brief obsession with “Dynasty” in graduate school, and although my passion for the show cooled mid-second season (I’ll get back into it during my upcoming 80s phase, don’t fret.), my fascination with Joan Collins remains strong. Along with her obvious talent as an actress on the stage and screen, we are also similar in terms of coloring and general body shape. This makes her an incredibly handy style icon, especially considering the length of her career. She began making films in the early 1950s, and was killing it/Krystle’s unborn baby thirty years later on Dynasty!

Looking ADORBS with a pink poodle and matching headboard.

So cute! Also, I want to own that chair and that bathing suit.

Just strolling and being incredible. Love this dress!

It is pretty important, especially for someone like me who sews, to find women that share a similar build in order to get fashion inspiration, clues to what looks good and what doesn’t, as well as reassurance (since the high fashion industry won’t) that my curvy figure does look excellent in certain ensembles. And, since I’ve found that I prefer the 50s Dior “new look” shape, as well as some of the 1980s pouf-y/broad shouldered throwbacks, Joan Collins really does it for me.

Look at that slit! This woman is BOLD!

She exudes elegance, poise and sultry mischief. Her ability to look angelic and innocent, as well as strikingly dramatic is appealing. I think an enormous amount of self awareness and confidence are both necessary in order to do this so well, and I admire both her appearance and her incredible abilities.

So gorgeous.

Do you have a fashion/style icon? If so, who is it? Do you appreciate their style because it is similar or different from yours? Have you ever seen the glory that is Dynasty? Who is your favorite character??
